Jo Are Brennodden (29) follows in the footsteps of his father Kjell Brennodden. Kjell is going the 1000 km race, while Jo Are tackles the 500 km. The main goal is to get rid of the rookie status.

Jo Are is going Finnmarksløpet for the first time but has been handler several times for his dad. the 29 yar old has participated in the Femundsrace three times and is therfore not unknown in dog-sled racing.

- I took a break from dog sled racing because of my studies. M goal is to cast myself out as one of the 8 first teams from Suossjavri, even if it looks a little bit bad right now, says the sosionom who came into Karasjok in 15th place.

-Up til now it has been good conditions but on the way up the Tana river we had powder snow. The dogs have been performing surprisingly well, even though some of them got diarrhea today. Two of my dogs are in heat but I decided to take them along anyways. This lead will lead to the bitches turning around a couple of times to greet the male dogs that are a little bit back in the trail, says a rookie with a big smile.
