There are many challenges a musher has to face. Kristine Jerijaervi from Sandnes in Soer Varanger has really been hit hard in the last couple of hours. On the stretch in between Skoganvarre-Levajok she was forced to go ahead of her team for several hours.

Jerijærvis handler, Kim Sundfær, explains that the team was really tired when they reached the checkpoint in Levajok. But this is not a big problem.

- Kristine decided to spend the night at the checkpoint so that she and her dogs can get a good rest. Tomorrow are both Kristine and the dogs going to be up and going, explains the handler.

The problems that the 22 year old had are illustrated by her time. She needed 12 hours for the 88km long stage while the rest of the competition used 8 hours on average. Kristine Jerijærvi is a rookie, and will most likely continue with 7 dogs tomorrow. And with all the determination the 22 year old has shown we would be extremely surprised not to see her crossing the finish lin here in Alta.
