It is Winterfest in Tana when the dogs arrive. The mushers are met by lit ice-sculptures and the three first teams to arrive will receve a check of NOK 2500 each. Other people visiting Tana will have the chance to trydog-sleighing.

In the center of Tanabru are two snow-sculptures made by pupils at Tana High School and the junior high at Seida. The ice-sculptures show a team of dogs and a boat with a man in it, which is the symbol of Tana. The ice-scuptures were finished yesterday, and were drawn by architect Roger Persson. These sculptures are part of the winter festival in Tana. The trail of Finnmarksløpet will pass only 40 meters from the ice-sculptures and will be lit when the competitors arrive.

A prize ceremony will also happen this year as the first three to arrive will get a check of NOK 2500 each.

It is also possble to get a round in a dogsleigh during the winter fest in Tana, which the Mayor Ingrid Smuk Rolstad and her colleague Ann Jorid Henriksen did.

- It was a great experience. One can feel the closeness between nature, the dogs and the musher. I understand why people get hooked mushing, Ann Jorid said after her 1,5 hour long debut.

Many clubs, societies and business organizations are working together to create a good arrangement for the mushers when they arrive Tana, as Finnmarksløpet will provide excellent advertisement for Tana in the future.
