Katy Meier was the first one in the 500 km race to arrive at Skoganvarre checkpoint, at 17:18. Katy was the first one to arrive Skoganvarre in last year's race as well, but then had to quit on her way to Suossjavre after a hard race. It is still early on in the race. Only 113 km is done, but there is no doubt that she has a fast team. Maybe this year it will last all the way to the finish line?

The second musher to arrive Skoganvarre was Hilde Askildt, so two girls are leading! She had her Finnmarksløpet debut last year and did well. The third musher to checkpoint was Bjørnar Bjørkhaug who are in the race for the first time. More mushers are coming to Soganvarre shortly. Reports says that the weather and trail-conditions are good.
