Broadcast to 4 million Italians

These days Italy's largest TV channel, RAI1, is making a 1 hour documentary about Finnmarksløpet. And it is not just anybody who are in Finnmark to make it. The journalist Paolo Giani is one of RAI's most respected news-anchors, while the photographer Marco Sanga is also the Pope's potographer.

Exotic wilderness

The two Itaians meet an exotic Finnmark. Snow, darkness, dogs barking, and the cold is not usual in Italy. - We love it and the viewers will love it, Paolo says. He tells us that they come from the news department TG1, which is a subdivision of RAI1. Their program "Speciale TG1" is on every third Sunday during prime time. Number of viewers are app 4 million every time. Paolo is dressed in a real Itaian winter-coat with the logos from the outskirts of the world - among them are Alaska, Iceland, the Antarctic, K2 in the Himalayas, and now also Finnmark. They proove his extensive travelling.

Advertising Finnmark

The journalst who loves to travel says that their documentary mainly follows the two Italians who are participating in this year's anniversary-race. It will also provide lots of advertisment for Finnmark. They have got numerous rolls of film showing the varied nature in Finnmark, and they will have more after following the Italian mushers around the trail. They are also fascinated by the aesthetic taste of the people in Alta. They have filmed housing both at Kronstad and Saga focusing on, compared to Italy, the many colourful houses. The ice-hotel in Sorrisnva has also been filmed.
