Bernhard Schuchert from Germany starts Finnmarksløpet with 10 dogs which took part in - and finished - Iditarod.

- The trip here has gone well, says the German shortly after arriving Skoganvarre.

He won't comment on the fact that he might compete with the best in Finnmarksøpet. He is careful not to give away any information about his ambitions so early on in the race.

- Levajok is still a ways away. We'll see how it looks when we get there, Schuchert says.

The German started first, but had been passed by other teams at the first check point, Joatka. However, he is not worried about having lost the first position. The only thing he is thinking of now is to feed his dogs. He was one of few mushers who didn't heat food for the dogs at Skoganvarre.

- They like the food cold. But later on in the race I have to heat their food, he says.

Schuchert was 13th arriving at Skoganvarre. He lost to the others at Joatka, where he was the 12th to leave the check point. This means that he was passed by only one team on his way to Skoganvarre.
