Finnmarksløpet uses the website active to bring news and information to mushers as well as other interested. Here are the last news uppdate specially to mushers and handlers.

Levajok Mountain Lodge checkpoint in both races
The executive board in Finnmarksløopet, has decided that the Levajok Mountain Lodge will be used as checkpoint for both the 1000 km, end the 500 km race. The is board is particullary concerned about the problematic trafical situation at the former checkpoint at Kirkestua in Levajok, which a feard ro be even more difficult this year due to the increase in the number of participants in the 1000 km race.

Changes in the tracks into Kirkenes and Sirbma

Possible visit to the town Båteng
A lot of smaller and bigger towns in Finnmark hopes for a visit by Finnmarksløpets mushers and dogs. This is also the situation in Båteng, a small town in the munipalitiy of Tana. The executive board are now concidering the request from Båteng and what changes in the track this will implicate.

Maximum weight on the Food Drop Sacks.
Several traileres with Food Drops Sacks are to be spread over large parts of Finnmark. Mr. Tor Erling Langjord is in charge of this job, and request all mushers not to pack any sacks heavier than 20 kg. He also reminds all mushers and handlers to remember that you will have to lift your own sacks onto the trailers yourself. - Food Drops Sacks that are not lifted on to the trailers, will not be transported out to the checkpoints, Tor Erling says.
