In the 2005 race in march, more than 40 mushers are starting in the 1000 km –open class, which is new record for Finnmarksløpet. But the number of participants demands for changes. The checkpoint at Kirkestua/Sarajavri at Levajok bridge, will probaly be dropped and instead the Levajok Moutain Lodge will be used as checkpoint for both the 500 km and the 1000 km.

Harald Tunheim is responsible for the checkpoints in the 2005 race. He is now suggesting changes in Levajok.

- Since the 500 km are having a restart on sunday the 6.th, they will not arrive Levajok before monday morning. That means that there should be no problem to have the 1000 km at the same checkpoint, since they will arrive in Levajok early sund morning, he claims.

For the mushers and the dogs in open class it will be an extra 10 kilometer back and forth on the river.

The final decission is made by the board later.
