At the moment, all lead teams are at checkpoint Sirbma. There is a mountain storm and no one has left. This can let more mushers further back in the field joing the battle for the gold.

Our Finnmark Race expert thinks the rest in Sirbma will benefit those further behind the lead.

- When the lead teams are stopped by the storm, several other teams can join the battle for the gold. Five hours of rest is sufficient to keep a good speed through the next leg. Those who arrived first in Sirbma have rested more than five hours, but several other teams also have the needed five hours of rest, and can thus maintain a good speed on the stretch toward Levajok, says Trond Ørslien.

- The lead is being disadvantaged by a longer storm. Teams who had built up a lead will loose this lead.
