To make a better start arrangement, the Trail Committee has decided that the 8-dog class shall have a show-start on Saturday, March 5. - And a restart on the next day, Sunday at 12:00
This year also the 8-dog teams must carry a passenger from the start downtown Alta to Sorrisniva on Saturday. The Trail committee therefore have decided that the limited class shall have a restart.
The restart will be at 12:00 on Sunday March 6. The mushers have to participate in the show start downtown Alta on Saturday as usual, but the real start for this class will be on Sunday.
This will ease the fight for a good rest position at the two first checkpoints, Joatka and Skoganvarre. Another advantage will normally be a faster trail between Skoganvarre and Levajohk. Normally this class has packed the track on this leg. Now the track will be groomed by twenty or more open class teams before the 8-dog teams arrive.
The 8-dog team mushers will also get more time to enjoy other parts of the arrangement as being ringside to the open class restart Saturday. It is however mandatory for these mushers to participate in the show start on Saturday. The mushers are encouraged to have an extra sled for the passenger transport up the river.
