Nina Prebensen from Alta was elected as the new CEO at this years general meeting of the Finnmarkslopet AS. She is taking the job over from Per Aronsen, who had been responsible for the company ever since the founding in 2001.

Oversimplifying one could say that the Alta Trekkhundklubb is responsible for the matters concerning the sport while Finnmarksløpet AS is responsible for the economic parts of Finnmarksløpet. Therefore we now have two new leaders in the two key organisations that are involved in the planning and execution of Finnmarksløpet 2005.

Nina is a woman with a lot of experience from business life as well as from higher education. She will be leading Finnmarksløpet to new goals. Nina Prebensen is educated as an economist and teaches at the Høgskolen i Finnmark. She has two children, works on her doctor thesis and is a person who likes tackling a big work load.

- I like new challenges. The job leading Finnmarksløpet AS is something I am very excited about and I am definetely looking forward to it, says Prebensen.

High potential

Since the start of Finnmarksløpet AS has Prebensen been a member of the board. Living in Alta she has known about the race for many years as a normal spectator. Prebensen does not have any dogs herself and her motivation fo working with the race is the unique character and framework of the race.

- I believe that the race has huge potential, both for marketing and the image of all of North-Norway. Finnmarksløpet is a positiv image carrier, which could make it interesting for many companies to be associated with. The race is tough and challenging. It is teamwork, being close to nature etc.. All in all contains the arrangement many attractive elements, says Nina.

The new CEO has already started to think about the coming challenges this summer.

- I have been working a little bit with strategies for the race which I will introduce to the board as a starting point for the ongoing work. The fantastic summer is over soon and next week will the new board take on the work, concludes Prebensen.
