Christian Høy Knudsen impresses everyone in FL-1000, by being able to arrive at check-point Kirkenes with all 14 dogs in front of the sled – 538 km into the race. That is halfway into the competition!

When we ask him how he has been able to manage this, he smiles.

– I am not completely sure, but I think I will do this next year as well! After a bit of thinking he says that the success with the dogs can come from the fact that he has taken it a bit slower this year.

– I decided that I would spend a bit more time on the dogs, feeding them and taking care of them at the check-points and during the race. I made this decision last year.

The tactic has paid off. Coming into Kirkenes, he was the only musher with all 14 dogs in front of the sled, and he had made the best time on that leg. Høy Knudsen arrived in Kirkenes as number eight in competition with several of the best mushers in the country.

At Kirkenes, he has decided to drop three dogs and continue with 11 in front of the sled on the way to Neiden 2.
