During the evening banquet, many eagerly awaited the last point on the agenda: The announcement of the Ishavskraft Honorary Award. Acting adm.director in Ishavskraft Stig A. Hanssen presented the award himself.

The award statement argues that he has played an important role in developing the Finnmark Race, as well as long distance sled dog racing in general.

– He has dog mushing in his blood year round, said Hanssen in his speech. – Arne Karlstrøm has been active locally, both as a race participant and as a member in boards and committees, and he does a great job in welcoming newcomers into the sport and has contributed to the fostering of many future mushers – and winners, Hanssen added.

– Additionally, he has contributed to the transformation of his local village to a dog mushing eldorado – a musher’s mecca, said Hanssen.

In his acceptance speech, Karlstrøm admitted that he has been one of the ones who have not only been active as a musher himself, but also have been willing to take responsibility beyond that. – I have been one of those who said yes, so this …. This was well deserved!

Congratulations!
