Already early Friday night, the best finisher from Finnmark, Alta-woman May-Conny Johansen crossed the finish line number four in FL-100, about an hour after the third position. During the next hour, Birgitte Næss Wærner and Inger-Marie Haaland arrived, as well as the best foreign musher, Petter Karlson from Slussfors in Sweden.

Dag-Torulf Olsen from Hammerfest and Ronny Frydenlund from Brummundal, crossed the finish line close to midnight Friday, while it was Saturday when Nina Skramstad arrived at the finish.

Best rookie

Right after 2 am, Marit Beate Kasin finished as the rookie of the year, with an impressive 11th place in her very first Finnmark Race.

Later that night, Jean Philippe Pontier from France and Kenneth Nilsen arrived, while Finnish Mika Jutila, Kristin Walseth from Alta and German Bern Helmich finished during the day.

Twelve teams on the way
Ten teams are making their way toward Alta, while two mushers have yet to leave Karasjok. The deadline for leaving the Karasjok check-point is at midnight Saturday. That should not be a problem for Miguel-Angel Martinez or Wolfgang Simon-Nilsen, both of whom arrived at the check-point early Saturday morning.

This far, 18 mushers have scratched. The last to quit was veteran Harald Tunheim, who unfortunately had to scratch the Finnmark Race for the very first time.
