The Swede is the best foreign musher at present, and can leave Karasjok around 9 a.m. Friday morning. But when it comes to the question about being the best foreign musher, he takes his precautions: - We haven’t crossed the finish line yet.

Petter says he is tired after 900 km on the trail in, at times, heavy winds. As for speed, he says that it “either moves along quite fast or not at all”.
- So I hope my luck doesn’t turn on me the during the last leg to Alta.
Chasing May-Conny Johansen
Karlsson is just a few minutes behind May-Conny Johansen going out of Karasjok. Last year the Swede came strong at the end of the race. If he can repeat it now, he may be able to catch up with the Alta-based woman ahead of him. If so, then fourth place may be within reach. That would certainly be an improvement compared to last year’s 16th place.
