Lars Monsen scratched at checkpoint Levajok 2 in the early hours of Friday morning. On the team’s facebook page, he says:
I started with 7 dogs from Levajok 2, but returned with one of them immediately as he turned out to be ill. Then I mushed down the river for one kilometer, and saw that three more were ill: Demi, Jay-Lo and Russel. To continue almost 90 km in strong head winds toward Karasjok with dogs that are not well would not be a competition on their premises. The dogs' welfare trumps everything. This was according to plan, but I am left with a good feeling, knowing that i took the right decision.
