Arne Karlstrøm arrived at 07:02 Saturday morning. His first reaction being handed a bottle of mineral water was: - Isn't there champagne for number five? Asked if he had passed Frode Holten on the trail, he answered that he never passed him. Frode Holten took a wrong turn towards Stilla, before finding the right track again. Arne had counted on passing Holten when he found out that he was only ten minutes ahead at Joatka. Talking about the trail conditions along the way, Arne says that he doesn't like getting his feet wet. He has tried all conditions during the race: bare rock, earth, snow, sand, gravel, and water. The dogs handled this well though. Arne had problems remembering the names of his dogs when he got tired. Between Polmak and Levajok, Arne tried calling his wife telling her that he would scratch. He felt that it was meaningless to continue. He never got that far, however, because his phone didn't work. Also, in a second thought, he didn't want to see the "SCRATCHED" term next to his name on the result list. Now, Arne Karlstrøm, the giant of Langfjorden, is happy having completed the race.
