Robin Johansen was the first musher to arrive at cp Karasjok, but Elisabeth Edland appears to be in the lead with a small space of time between her and her nearest competitors. She has used 17 minutes less than the next competitor on the race so far when  arriving at Karasjok.

Radek Havrda and Jørn Sødahl Kvam are number two and three so far. While Edland has used a total of 11 hrs and 56 mins, Havrda and Kvam have used 12 hrs and 13 mins, and 12 hrs and 18 mins respectively. After them, the next mushers are almost even.

Jørn Sødahl Kvam well under way between Alta and Jotka.

When the race press spoke with Kvam at cp Jergul he was focused on taking it easy up to Levajok. - The dogs are well trained and have worked well. I hope to have as many of them as possible with me on the leg between Levajok and Skoganvarre.

That is the hardest leg of the race as it goes across the gaissa's, i.e. the high, rounded mountain hills.

- My goal is to win a medal in the race, Kvam says.
