- There was a mark on the ice! These were the words with which a reliefed Ralph Johannessen crossed the finish line at 02:04. He had not turned on his headlights so that the competition behind him would not see him. He had not seen any lights behind himself either. This is a very common tactic among the mushers.

-The mild weather was worse than storm or cold. The mild weather was hard for the dogs and the humans. Johannessen had participated in five Finnmarkslopet before but he pointed out that this years was the hardest and most challenging.

- It would not have been easy to beat Bjørnar, but under these circumstances was it a victory in itself to cross the finish line.

-I started out without one leading dog, but during the course of this race have I found myself two new ones, Ralph said. The last stage proved to be tough for Ralph. He was tired and felt at one point that he did not know anymore where he was. But he went on till the end.
