The lead pack of the FL-500 race keep their cards close to their chest when it comes to strategy. Ronny Wingren was the first musher to leave Levajok on the trail towards Skoganvarre. Asked what he thinks of the race ahead, he says he's not sure he'll be able to keep his position. - My lead dogs are too inexperienced to handle this. I hope I can make it to Alta, he says before leaving for Skoganvarre.

Bente Levorsen looks optimistic, but will not say a word about her thoughts on the next 24 hours.

The Finnmarksløpet reporters on trail say that Vidar Uglebakken has a very fit dog team. The dogs bark and jump while lined up. Uglebakken hopes to make it to top 3, but he's humble: - There are very good and experienced mushers ahead of me in the competition, he says.

Hilde Askildt and her seven dogs disappeared into the darkness towards Skoganvarre with their race plan still kept secret.

The fifth musher to leave Levajok, Elisabeth edland, has had a rough leg to Skoganvarre and expresses insecurity about the next leg. - I am very insecure, but I'm not ready to go down without a fight, Edland says.

The psychological game is on in this defining phase of the FL-500 race.
