FL-500: One of the favourites cancel the race

“The Wingrens”, Ole and Ronny, father and son were both favourites in advance for this year’s 500-kilometre race. Ole Wingren now admits his plan of action got too ambitious, and he is withdrawing from the race at checkpoint Karasjok. This year’s race is over for Wingren senior. Now he will follow his son’s actions from the sideline heading back to Alta.

Wingren senior’s son Ronny drove out from Karasjok towards checkpoint Levajok at 8.28 AM this morning with several outstanding mushers on his heals.
