Updated 7.45 PM:

Finnmarkslopet has been in contact with Bern Helmich’s handlers this evening, and the team explained the reason for the accident was extremely slippery roads, as well as a strong side wind “clasping” the caravan.

Spokesperson for the handlers, Kjetil, wants to thank all the other cars with handlers who stopped to help without hesitation. While they were waiting for the rescue team, one of the handlers of Helmich’s team was able to catch a ride to Levajok with a depot bag. One of the cars of handlers even stopped to serve hot coffee and offer their assistance. This was greatly appreciated!
