The dogsled team which comes fourth in the 1 000-kilometre class of the Finnmarksløpet will be treated to a gourmet dinner at North Energy in March.

Good food forms a key part of life’s events, great and small – and finishing fourth in Europe’s longest contest for sled dogs definitely ranks among the major achievements.

Mushers and handlers from the fourth-placed team are being invited by North Energy to a three-course gourmet dinner in the company’s own premises in Alta, where race starts and finishes.

The food will be prepared by local top chef Asbjørn Sandøy, also known as the “Devil Cook”. He delivers his dishes under the motto “Lipsmacking”, so the guests can expect a meal worthy of the Finnmarksløpet.

Erik Karlstrøm, chief executive of North Energy, is hosting the dinner. A selection of company employees chosen by lot will also attend.

North Energy has been an elite partner for the Finnmarksløpet since 2008 and, like the competition itself, has strong roots in northern Norway. Enthusiasm for the race among employees of the oil company is high, and its collaboration with the event is also seen as a way of helping personnel to integrate in the local community. A number of North Energy staff have moved in from elsewhere, and participating as volunteers in staging the competition helps them to expand their range of friends and acquaintances.
