FL-junior

Finnmarksløpet will arrange a junior race in 2014, FL-Junior. 

- It is a great pleasure to welcome mushers between 15 and 18 years to participate in Finnmarksløpet.  We have decided to make a junior race of maximum 200 kilometres, says Arne Karlstøm, the leader of the Sports Committee in Alta Trekkhundklubb.

Karlstrøm will not reveal too many details of the new race yet. The Sports Committee still need some time to discuss some details before they launch all information and rules.  – It will for sure be participation for mushers between 15 and 18 years, which means you must be 15 to start, and not more than 18 years on the start date.

FL-Junior will follow the rules set of the Norwegian Sled dog Assosiation, and will have a lot of similarities with Femundløpet Junior, which already has taken place two times. 

- The teams will consist of six dogs, and the trail will be maximum 200 kilometres. Additional safety precautions will be made for the mushers, says Karlstrøm. The registration fee will be NOK 2 500, and the registration will start on the 1^st December. 

FUTURE JUNIOR MUSHERS: Hanna Lyrek and Mina Karlstrøm are already experienced mushers. Most likely we will see them on the start of the Junior Race in the future. This photo was taken at the start of FL-2012 when they did a show start in the main street of Alta.
