(UPDATED) Thomas Wærner has passed Bollo and is about to arrive to the Alta river.

- It was terribly cold during the night and extremely heavy over the mountain. I used five forehead light batteries in the night, tells Wærner on the telephone. He has now about half-hour management and there are indications that this 40-year-old musher will pass the finish line in Alta city in first place.

We will have regular contact with Thomas on his journey back to the civilization. Behind him comes Arnt Ola Skjerve and Inger-Marie Haaland both sledding from Jotka at 6:17. Skjerve has currently seven dogs in the team, Haaland has eight dogs, while the leader has nine dogs yet. At 4:46 came Thomas Wærnes into Jotka’s lodge after a tough journey over the mountains from Karasjok.

This 40-year-old who is sledding in high speed, sat back a dog and was terribly busy, reports our man Geir Stian Larsen who is in place at the lodge.- He said it had been slow in the Jotka. It's minus 35 degrees over here, and over Jiesjavre we had massive fog. It has probably been very tough for the mushers in the night over the plateau.

Wærnes uses probably somewhere around four hours down to Alta, and thus there is a reason to expect his arrival somewhere between 8 and 9 in the morning today
