Thomas Wærner (40) has arrived to Karasjokk at 12.52. He has bravely sled from Levajok 2 and in those 85 kilometers from the last checkpoint, he overpassed both Inger-Marie Haaland and Arnt Ola Skjerve. He started out from Levajokk at 06:09; half an hour after Haaland and almost another half an hour after Skjerve. Therefore, his 11 dogs have been sledding in great speed over the river towards Karasjok, for now Wærner has taken the leadership. The musher from Synnfjell and his dogs are now in Kirkenes, having 8 hours of well-deserved rest before it’s time to go again.

This is a very satisfied musher with lusty dogs that has arrived to Karasjok. –I have been patient and have seen that most mushers have had little rest. I've been sledding steadily, and now my consistency is bringing success, says Wærnes.Last year, Wærnes saw himself giving up in Sirbma and says he has learned in the harder way. -This year I will not blow it

Following behind Wærner, we have Ola Skjerve and Inger-Marie Haaland.

-Steinhardt, says Inger Marie Haaland about today's frigid leg in Tana River. -I have kicked all the way, but I have short legs when comparing to other competitors. The dogs have been straightforward, but it has not been top splash in the team. She reckons that it will improve and get better after the following eight hours of rest. -It is probably better in the darkness of Karasjok tonight, she concludes.
