Wærner has done a formidable tempo at elveisen and has brought in its lead, both Inger-Marie Haaland and Arnt Ola Skjerve. He started out from Levajok, half an hour after Haaland left, and almost one and a half an hour after Skjerve did. Obviously, he was in great speed with his 11 dogs on the river towards Karasjok and not surprisingly, has now taken the lead.

There are three experienced mushers which are on the top place in FL-1000, and the distance between them is almost nonexistent. This is a wide open and almost unbearably exciting adventure for all those who are closely following their pace, challenging the viewer to decide their favourite in the race.
