It turns out that FL-1000 has some important turning points. Now as the uncertainties around the finish builds up, we get an indication that the race has three important parts. The first part is from start to Neiden 2 /Varangerbotn with very little tactics and mostly transport. The second part is to Karasjok where some mushers try different tactics; some mushers make surprising moves, some becomes nervous and alters their plans. The suspense increases and everyone knows that after eight hour mandatory rest in Karasjok, many teams could start with fresh energy. In 2012 mushers were told to rest four extra hours in Karasjok, and many thought this influenced the results. So, how important is it to be first to Karasjok?

We have had a look at the statistics to find out if there is a connection between the first to Karasjok and the winner. In 2005, 2007 and 2008 the winner of the race was signed in as #2 in Karasjok. Al the other years from 2003 and till now the winner was #1 to Karasjok. (Except for 2004 when they did not go to Karasjok). So, who is first to Karasjok?
