Later on Sunday night, Kjell Brennodden fell and broke a rib. Thus was Finnmarksløpet 2013 over for this veteran from Grimsbu in Dovre. After spending one day at the hospital in Kirkenes, Kjell and his wife Solbjørn drove home. He is now following the race from his sofa.

- This is not fun at all. It was one year of intensive work that was left behind. Many nights of training, tells Kjell on the telephone before this Wednesday’s dinner time.

Unfortunate in Tana’s bridge, the worst house came for Kjell Brennodden. The dogs were in the greatest shape when he lost the control of the brakes in the way towards Tana.

- I had a great mushing, and I am totally sure I would have been dangerous for the other mushers in this year’s race, he says.

After the accident, the dogs were delivered to the handlers who started their long long journey back home on Monday. Today both dogs, musher and handlers will be back to Folldal In good shape despite the unfortunate event. The body needs now to recuperate and it’s quite hard to fall asleep, but he is in good mood. To go back home to his grandchild, little Birk, has also helped him to cheer up. Birk is the son of Kjell’s son Jo-Are who is also known for being a musher – he is together with his partner Anna.

- It was a lovely meeting. I am a extremely happy they had a motive to come. Now it's time to relax and work to return stronger to next year's race, says Kjell Brennodden in the end.

Next year he will come back stronger, he promises.
