From Ringwood, Great Britain, comes the teacher Peter Kay-Kujawski (45), to participate in FL-500 2013. He owned a pair of Siberian husky from a British kennel, and borrowed 5 other dogs from Marianne and Arne Karlstrøm in Langfjordbotn. One of the dogs he had with himself during the race, started to feel stressful when being overtaken by other mushings and reacted negatively. Unfortunately Peter had to dismiss him, but the other 7 dogs have successfully completed the race!

Peter has told us that he has felt the tiredness taking control over him and many times during the journey he questioned himself if it was possible yet to continue to sled. At the checkpoint he used more time than what he expected, but thankfully to their fantastic dog leader Sabele, the motivation to get to the finish line did not lack, and after all, they accomplished to reach their ultimate goal, especially when in fact, 22 of  71 teams had to fold and leave the competition. That did not happen with Peter, he was brave enough to move on. Arriving on 48th place, Peter despite the tiredness and lack of sleep, still reveals his willingness to participate again – in a couple of years.

After arriving to Alta, a long hug with his beloved and handler Emma Crowell is needed. The journey was hard and full of challenges, but Peter has made it despite the stress and tiredness. It's now time to rest and celebrate this wonderful accomplishment!
