Many are following the GPS-tracking closely during Finnmarksløpet. As good news to everyone, the GPS tracking will now be updated every fifth minute. That way it is possible to follow the mushers even closer.
On the leg between Kirkenes and Neiden 2, the GPS signals have been better than the signals on the previous leg from Neiden 1 to Kirkenes. The mushers have mainly stayed in areas with cell reception and it has been possible to follow the tracking most of the leg. However, some areas are still without coverage, making the update frequency lower.
-During the mandatory rest in Karasjok we are changing the batteries and checking the equipment one last time before the stretch towards Alta, says GPS supervisor Geir Thomassen.
