The local rookie Espen Sønvisen Bech (18) delivered in FL-500. 6th place and Bronze medal in the Norwegian Championship is hard to match for any rookie in the race. In addition, when two of the mushers in front are Katy Meier and Ole Wingren, then we understand that this is incredibly well done!

Sønvisen Bech climbed slowly, but surely up the result list, and was among top 10 already after checkpoint Levajok. At first his goal was to stay within the top 10, but his competitiveness woke and he adjusted his goal to top 5. A 5th in this year's Femund has made him self confident! Sønvisen reported a nice trip across the mountain plateau, and especially the last part of the race will be remembered. - The leg from Jotka to Alta was the best. It was fantastic, explained a happy Bronze winner.

A big crowd was waiting in the goal area and Espen seemed like a local Justin Bieber when he arrived the city centre, considering the reactions of the spectators. Many posters surrounded the goal area. Sønvisen seemed calm, and let the moment sink in.

Women and men compete alongside each other in Finnmarksløpet, and the young winner of the bronze medal shows that age is not a hinder in this best adventure of winter.
