Latest update: Our team in the trail reports that Milos Gonda i about 20 minutes in front of Ole Wingren, halfway between Iesjavrre and Jotka. 10 minutes behind Ole is Katy Meier with Eline Lihagen right behind her. Nothing is decided yet!

FL-500 2013 is the Norwegian championship in sled dog racing. It is an open competition so foreigners can take part, but they cannot receive the title of Norwegian champion. That title goes to the best Norwegian musher. At this moment, while the lead is heading up to Mollisjok from Soussjavre, it looks like Milos Gonda (35) from Slovakia might climb to the top spot. A lot can still happen, and from previous races we know that the term “parking” is lurking in the back of the mind as the mushers approach the finish line. We are however impressed with what is has done with his dog team thus far.

Behind Milos is musher Ole Wingren (61) from Finland. He won FL-500 in 2010. Further back Norwegian Eline Lihagen (29) is neck and neck with Katy Meier (42) from Sweden. Katy won FL-500 in 2012.

If Eline succeeds in the dual with Katy, she will also reach her goal for this race: to do better than boyfriend Ole Sigleif Johansen did in FL-500 2012. She is nevertheless in route to become the Norwegian champion.
