The FL-500 can be compared with the classic biathlon. The first stage is from Alta to Karasjok. In reality, the leader is suually the fastest musher between these two points. In Karasjok, time standings are given based mushers start numbers from Alta. This means that the first team to leave Karasjok is the leader.

Gonda can leave Karasjok at 20:40. Ole Wingren can leave four minutes after, closely followed by Katy Meier at 20:48. In other words, there are only 8 minutes separating the three fastest teams.
