Upon their arrival in Karasjok, the mushers are half-way through the race. At this point we can see that the race really toughens.
At the checkpoint, it is extremely important that the dogs receive proper care and are allowed to lay on top of straw under a warm blanket as quickly as possible. This is why mushers run to get their depot sacks and water. They need ample time for lubricating paws, feeding and putting coats on their dogs. See the pictures and videos below.
The first thing the to be done is to get their depot sacks. Here, Eline Lihagen is running with her sack.

When one is ahead of the pack in FL-500, speaking to the press is a must. Katy Meier doesn't allow this to stop her giving her dogs the care they need.
