A surprisingly fresh dog team arrived in Karasjok at 3 o’clock. Borch has not rested much earlier in the race, and has to make a longer stop in Karasjok.

- I wanted to do something quirky, a smiling Borch says when he is explaining why he has chosen this tactic.

- My goal all along has been to finish the race, as well as getting in to Karasjok first.

As the first team in to the checkpoint he received a gift from Karasjok municipality.

When Borch’s dogs came in to the checkpoint veterinarian Trine Marhaug and two other veterinarians stood by to check the dogs before they went down to rest. There are seven veterinarians working at the checkpoint in Karasjok as the FL-500 teams arrive this evening and into the night.

When asked what she immediately looks for when a dog team arrives at a checkpoint she replies –I see if the dogs look bright and alert. With Borchs team she observed them snacking and watching the people at the checkpoint. Marhaug explains that she always tries to examine the dogs before they fall asleep, as not to disturb their rest.
