Love and Care

If you want to drive sled-dog-races you have to take good care of your dogs. Therefore the dogs always come first when the musher comes to the checkpoint.  No matter how sleepy, hungry and tiered the mushers are, they have to look after the dogs first, then they my think of themselves and their own needs

Most of the mushers have routines for the checkpoint work. Time is essential.  The faster you get the dogs fed, the more resting time they get at the checkpoint. During a long race, these minutes adds up. And there is a lot to do.

LOVE: Man and dog in harmony when Inger Marie Haaland is cuddling with one of her dogs.

Straw on the ground, socks off, lines disconnected, the dogs get a treat, water boiler should be lit and food prepared. Then maybe some dog coat needs to be removed and new one put on before each dog is checked. Blankets on and get the dogs rested. And all the time they talk, cuddle with the dogs. Love and care is just as important as food.
