One of the big favorites and last year’s winner Meier (42) from Sweden has started out as musher number 19.

Seven of the dogs in Meier’s team were part the team winning FL-500 last year. Meier’s handler Jorg Buhgard tells us Meier and the dogs are well prepared, and the training conditions before the race this year have been good.

Meier herself states that her goal is as always to win, but there are many good competitors here who also have prepared well for the race.

One of Meier’s toughest competitors, Elisabeth Edland (54) from Nannestad is also starting the race with a strong dog-team.

Out of the eight the dogs Edland used in Femunløpet this year, seven are in the team at the start of FL-500. According to Edlands handler Per Olav Gausreidet this year’s dogs are the strongest Edland has ever had.

Right behind Meier on the start list is Ole Wingren (61) from Finland. Wingren won FL-500 in 2010 and did good in Femunløpet this year. Wingren is racing to win, but he has two young dogs in team, and has to take that in to consideration.
