Second on trail, but not in result list

Frode Holten's wish to be out on the hunt of Bjørnar Andersen has momentarily proven to be just that: a wish. Holten started out from the checkpoint at 20:54 with a team of 7 dogs. Holten managed to go 300 meters before coming to an abrupt halt. After half an hour he turned around with the entire team and returned to the checkpoint. This lead to an absurd situation.

Johannessen in high spirit

Johannessen now second

At 21:39 Ralph Johannessen left the checkpoint. And even though he is clearly the only one at the moment that is following Andersens path, he is listed as third in the rankings. He still has 8 dogs in his team, 2 more than the leading Bjørnar Andersen.

Holten's handler puzzled

Holten's handler does not know what the problem was exactly. The speculation was that the dogs were too full, because they had been fed twice during the stay in the checkpoint at Levajok. Furthermore had the dogs probably no interest in getting wet again, after getting dry and warm during the rest in the checkpoint.
