Trine Kristiansen Lyrek (39) crossed the finish line in Alta at 20.11 and got 4th place in FL-1000.

Trine, originally from Sarpsborg in the southern part of Norway, was a student at Øytun folk highschool in Alta in the early 90s. She got hooked on dog-mushing during that year and later moved to Alaska to learn more. She lived in Alaska for a few years and raced the Iditarod in 2005, a big dream had come true.

Today she has finished her fifth Finnmarksløp. She did FL-500 in 2007, and the rest have been the 1000 km race. Her best result so far is from 1997 when she got in 12th. She is very happy with this year's excellent result. Trine has had one of the most experienced dog-mushers as her handler, the one and only Mr. Finnmarksløpet Roger Dahl. The safety it gives having such an experienced handler has been important to her. Trine's team of dogs consists of some of her own, and som eof Roger's dogs. They create a super-team which now have shown to be very successful in this year's race.

Trine smiled from ear to ear when she crossed the finish line. - I am very proud of my dogs, especially Kongo who shifted to an extra gear when he got his daughters up with him, she said. Trine already has the strategy for the next race ready. - I am just going to rest a bit first, she laughed. When asked a question by Hanne Rosenberg Trine said that the trails of Finnmarksløpet are much tougher than those at Iditarod, but luckily much shorter.

Finnmarksløpet congratulates Trine with a splendid fourth place!
