All dog teams must rest for 12 hours in Karasjok. This decision has been made by the race management and the veterinarians.
This decision is made because the dogs are priority number one. This year’s race has been tough for both dogs and musher. Usually eight hours of mandatory rest in Karasjok in enough. Now it is prolonged by four hours.
Another important factor is to give the veterinarians extra time to give all dogs a good checkup before they start the last leg towards Alta.
