Finally after a rest of 7 and a half hours the leader of the Finnmarksløpet, Bjørnar Andersen felt that it was time to get on the road again. He left the checkpoint in Levajok at 19:15. Bjørnars team right now consists out of just 6 dogs. He took out another two at the checkpoint in Levajok and has now less than half his team left. The last 200 km have now begun for Bjørnar while the last in the race, Kjell Løken, has about twice that distance ahead of him. The competition behind Andersen is getting tighter.

The amount of competitors Bjørnar gets to see in the checkpoints has gone down to 4. Frode Holten, the musher second longest in the checkpoint, will have to start looking over his shoulder to defend his second rank.

Competition closing in on Holten

Roger Dahl is coming closer. On the last stage he was able to cut the time he trails behind Holten in half. And the next two, Ralph Johannessen (arrived at 17:52) and Trond Ørslien (17:57)are even faster. Both of them had done a good job and gained almost 2 hours on Frode Holten in second place, achieving the same effect as Dahl. So Holten might already be overtaken by all three during the next stage if they can repeat the performance.

Where is Kjell Brennodden?

Kjell Brennodden on the other hand seems to be having problems on his way. He started out in third spot and until now he had to let 3 mushers overtake him.
