Ronny Frydenlund has finished some races previously, and in Finnmarksløpet he has a 12th place as his top result. There are indications that he will beat his record this year because currently he is number eight, which he has worked his way up to from his 22nd place in Kirkenes. When Frydenlund came in to Levajok at 11.30 today, both musher and dogs had good energy. Frydenlund says he has many leader dogs, which might be the explanation as to why things have run so smoothly, in addition to him not getting in on the rat race from the beginning, but having rested and held back. Frydenlund didn’t stop in Levajok, men kept going towards Karasjok and at the moment he is on the Tana River.

At the moment between Levajok and Karasjok, Trine Lyrek is the first runner, but her GPS has not moved for a while in the same area as Inger Marie Haaland had her little rest, but all things indicate that her dogs are moving. Magne Storstein has climbed in the field; he followed Nina Skramstad for a long time, but passed her on the Tana River. That gives Storstein a plowing job, because there is some snow in the trail. Not very far behind Frydenlund follows, while Stine Berget Nordvik, who has done a good race is about 20 km behind him. She had no ambitions other than finishing, when we spoke to her in Kirkenes, but it seems like she has got a hint of something, since Kirkenes she has taken a big leap, from 22nd place to the top ten. Not a small feat.

Somewhere in the trail between Levajok and Karasjok there is a lose runner, he is impossible to spot on the GPS tracking, but was passed by Nina Skramstad earlier today, who could inform us that he had some trouble getting the dogs moving, and was resting on the sled for a minute. He does not have an operative GPS, so we’ll see him when we see him.

The rest of the top ten- being Thomas Wærner and Lars Monsen- has rested for a few hours in Levajok and is still there.
