Bente Levorsen (58) has given the boys a surprisingly though fight for the top spots in the Norwegian Champinship.

The experienced lady from Varangerbotn in Nesseby is described in musher circles as very knowledgeable. She is 100 % dedicated to her work with the dogs. Years of experience has given her a solid proficiency in breeding, selecting, and training the potentially best dog team. Bente participated in Finnmarksløpet for the first time already in 1987, when she came in 16th. She had a break from racing for many years. This year’s Finnmarksløp shows that this lady still has drive. She has had evenly good run times on all legs – among them a fourth best time in the leg in FL-500 towards Skoganvarre. For a long time it looked like she would snag the bronze medal in the Norwegian Championship 2012 8-dogs. But Jon Øyvind Selmer and his dogs got too strong in the last few kilometers towards the finish line. Still – Bente was very satisfied with her own and her dogs achievement. – My dream came true, Bente said to Finnmarksløpet at the finish.
