Ronny chose to scratch Finnmarksløpet 2012 at checkpoint Levajok due to poor trail conditions. We got hold of Wingren when on his way to Karasjok to support his father, Ole Wingren, racing FL-500. –Now I’m nerves for him and not for myself! says Ronny, who is cool about having scratched.

The journey from Skoganvarre to Levajok was hard. –The last five kilometres down to Levajok the snow was very loose, I chose to stop while all the dogs still were ok. I didn’t want to face conditions like this on my way to Karasjok. There will be other Finnmarksløp. My team is made up of four 18 month old dogs, three two years old, and one 12 month old. They are so young that I don’t want to push them in conditions like these. If the team had been older and had more experience, I would have chosen to go on with six dogs, but not when they are so young.
