Alta Sled dog Club has decides to do some changes for Finnmmarksløpet 2012:

FL-1000
• 12 kilometres before Tana bru, the track will make a new turn. The total distance will be 12 kilometres longer. However, the quality of the trail is expected to be much better, so the total running time will most likely not be much longer.
• There also might be a change in the track from Sirma – Levajok 2. Alta Sled dog Club hope to avoid mushing on the river due to difficult ice conditions. Research is still being done, and the decision is still not made. This change will not cause any longer distance. Information will follow as soon as possible.
• The track from Neiden 1 – Kirkenes – Neiden 2 will in 2012 be the opposite way. This means that Neiden 1 – Kirkenes will be 75 kilometers, and Kirkenes – Neiden 2 will be 125 kilometers.
• There will most likely be a new check point downtown Kirkenes, at the Rica Arctic Hotel in 2012. This will give us more space and access to other facilities of Kirkenes. Information will follow on our website as soon as all details are settled.
FL-500
Alta Sled dog Club has decided that in Finnmarksløpet 500 kilometers 2012 (FL-500) any kind of poles will be prohibited. This is due to safety of the dogs. Earlier years, several mushers have had problems passing by teams where poles are being used, or hanging after the sledges.
(For teams running the FL-1000 kilometers, poles will still be allowed).
