Arctic Alps Cup

Alle som fullfører Finnamrksløpet er vinnere. Det er det stor enighet om. Men noen vinner litt mer enn andre. Arctic Alps Cup er en medvirkende faktor til det.

Last fall Finnmarksløpet (FL) started a cooperation with La Grande Odyssèe (LGO) and called it the Arctic Alps Cup. This means that mushers who have started both the LGO and the FL competed for an extra prize. Three mushers have competed in both races: Ketil Reitan, Daniel Juillaquet and Jo Are Brennodden.

After LGO they had 25, 18 and 15 points respectively. Because Juillaquet quit Finnmarksløpet he looses his points from LGO and Jo Are gets his 18 points. Jo Are Brennodden got 25 points in FL as the best Arctic Alps Cup-musher, and Ketil Reitan got 18 points. This means that the victory in this years' Arctic Alps Cup is shared between the two.

Both receives 4000 euro in prizemoney. Ketil Reitan then gets a prize which most likely feels good after his sad mistake on the tracks from Neiden towards Kirkenes. Congratulations to both!

A brief comment from Jo Are Brennodden at the end; his goal this year was to win the Arctic Alps Cup and beat his old man Kjell. The last did not go so well but he is still very pleased with his race and the result.
