Ordfører Geir Ove Bakken følger Finnmarksløpet med stor entusiasme: - Finnmarksløpet betyr enormt mye for byen år og vi må jobbe for at Finnmarkssløpet skal prege byen vår i større grad gjenom hele året.

Mayor Bakken visited the press centre of Finnmarksløpets this morning to get an insight into the differnet tasks that all the volunteers do.
We had a chat with the Mayor:
- I have followed this race since the beginning and I think that this years' race is the best ever. I was proud to be part of the start of the race last Saturday and parttake in the big celebration with thousands of audience in the city centre. The city is growing and so is Finnmarksløpet. The race has over the years become important for the inhabitants in both Alta and Finnmark. We identify more and more with the race and it creates happiness and pride about living in Alta and Finnmark.
