Enda er det en stund til vinneren kommer inn, likevel er det full aktivitet, ikke bare i pressesenteret og på sekreteriatet men også blendt de frivillge som skal sørge for sikker veikryssning før målgang.

Before the winner of FL-1000 crosses the finish line in Alta, there are many things that need to be organized. The planning for a safe road crossing at Aronnesveien and Markveien is taken very seriously.

Road safety is important since the teams will cross roads twice before the finish in central Alta. Crossings take place both day and night. For the mushers it is important that it is safe, swift and efficient. Volunteers are in place to make sure of this.

Everyone on duty at the road crossings are equipped with reflective waistcoats and stop signs. At Aronnesveien there will be road markings for crossing dog teams with flashing lights, easily seen by cars. In addition the authorities have reduced the speed limit from 60km/h to 30km/h.

Heljar Hykkerud is responsible and makes sure that there is someone at all the crossings. He monitors when the teams pas Sorrisniva and upper Alta and inform the guards so that they know the teams are coming, and they prepare to regulate the traffic.
