The big ones have retired

Hendrik Stachnau has decided to stop in Kirkenes. We understand him. It has gone slow across the mountain. Stachnau has a team of dogs with only greenland dogs and alaskan malamutes. They weigh the double of a husky and move at about half their speed.

The German musher had to take out many dogs early on in the race and out from Neiden he had nine dogs in front of the sled. After a leg taking 20 hours and 22 minutes from Neiden 1 and Kirkenes, Stachnau chose to quit.

We hope to see Stachnau and his beautiful dogs back in Finnmarksløpet next year, maybe in the 500 km?
